Kerry Bog Ponies in the RDS
On Tuesday 26th June, Kerry Bog Ponies took part in the Opening Ceremony for the 16th World Congress of HETI (Horses in Education and Therapy International) held in the RDS, Dublin.
Supported by Equine Facilitated Education and Therapy Association (Ireland) and Horse Sport Ireland and organised by Festina Lente, the renowned equine therapy centre in Co.Wicklow, this was the first time the Congress was held here in Ireland. Delegates from many of HETI's 46 member countries attended the Ceremony which showcased Ireland native Equine breeds and groups such as the Donkey Sanctuary and other horse welfare and rehabilitation groups. William Micklem introduced all the participants as they entered the ring and he spoke very positively about the attributes of the Kerry Bog Pony.
After the Ceremony some of our younger supporters represented the ponies very well - Sinead McEvoy, Laois with her 3 week old foal, Poppy Murphy on her Lead Rein pony, Primrose, Sinead Clancy and Rowie Murphy as back steps for the carriage driving pair all spoke to the delegates about the ponies with great passion and enthusiasm.
It was a most enjoyable day and wonderful to be part of the Congress.
