The Kerry Bog Pony Co-Operative Society was formed in 2005 to be the competent authority for the promotion and preservation of the Kerry Bog Pony.

It is run by a Management Committee of 9 elected members. They hold a minimum of 4 meetings per annum to organise and carry out the year’s activities such as the National Show and Sale, the Mare and Stallion Inspections, liaising with Horse Sport Ireland, Website development, Marketing activities such as Show attendance to promote the breed, and training and other activities for the members.

The committee is elected at the AGM each year. To view the current Committee Members, please click HERE.

People often ask – Why a Co-Op?

To have a legal identity, the options are either a Limited Company or a Co-Operative society. A Co-Op is a democratic body which is owned and run by its members; each shareholder has 1 vote.  All members have limited liability.  An elected management committee carries out the running of the Society and it is a simple, friendly and open framework under which to operate.
